Wayne State University Art Collection Processing

During Wayne State University’s Alumni Week of Service, I volunteered for a couple hours to process artwork for the University Art Collection. The art that we processed will be used as part of the Student Art Loan Program which loans art to students to display in their dorm rooms.

The volunteers and I cleaned the glass protecting the artwork, measured the prints and frames, added metadata to a spreadsheet, and verified other metadata in the collection's database.

Lastly, we housed the art on shelves, separated by cardboard, for transport to the collection's main storage space.

Library of Congress By The People Transcribing

I have helped to transcribe records in the American Federation of Labor, Clara Barton, James A. Garfield, and Alan Lomax collections using the Library of Congress’ By the People application.
