Digital Asset Management

The following are some examples of projects on which I used digital asset management software to make assets and records more accessible for users.

Wayne State University's Digital Asset Library

I have Editor-level access for Wayne State University's Digital Asset Library, which uses a PhotoShelter for Brands platform. At the time of writing, it contains over 7,000 assets (75GB) accessible by over 100 invited users. The library makes the university’s visual assets more discoverable and accessible for communicators across the campus and for the public.

I was pivotal in launching the university-wide system by organizing the initial folder structure and helping to present it to WSU’s marketing and communications staff. Now that it’s rolled-out, I ingest files, add metadata to assets, create how-to documents, and assist users. My boss called the library “revolutionary” for the way it helps our office collaborate with the WSU community. Our PhotoShelter rep said it was one of the most organized libraries that they had seen.

ResourceSpace

I ingested 900MB of Wayne State University's marketing photography to ResourceSpace to test how they could be accessed and shared by communicators across campus. The software auto-tagged the images using AI and I added additional keywords to the 4500 images in 27 collections so that they could be discovered by using search terms.

Google Photos

I ingested 290 digital photos from Wayne State University's marketing photo collections to Google Photos to test how they could be accessed and shared by communicators across campus. The software auto-tagged the images using AI and I added additional keywords to the photos so that they could be discovered by using search terms.

Adobe Experience Manager Assets

One project that I worked on during my practicum at the corporate archive, Allied Vaughn, was digitizing vehicle product photos from the early 2000s and making them accessible to researchers in a DAM system. I batched the photo transparencies into sets and recorded metadata on a spreadsheet. Then, I scanned each photo and saved them as high-resolution image files. I uploaded the files in bulk to their DAM, which used Adobe Experience Manager Assets software, and added the metadata in bulk. Lastly, I added indexing terms to the image assets using an automotive-focused taxonomy so that they could be more easily discovered by researchers.

Wayne State University Marketing Images Finding Aid

I created a finding aid for some of Wayne State University's marketing photography. It's a searchable Excel spreadsheet with the titles of 500 folders of photos from 2014-2023. The collections can be accessed using links to the university's file server.

GM Asset Central

While working at the Leo Burnett ad agency, I used GM Asset Central almost daily to search and access image assets for advertisements. Asset Central is General Motors' DAM which contains vehicle images and marketing assets.
